Melissa Bean, MA, LBA, BCBA
As a current military spouse and former military brat, Melissa brings a unique perspective to the services she provides shaped by her upbringing and experiences living across the United States and the world. Since becoming a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2019, she has worked across diverse settings including clinics, homes, daycares, community locations, and schools. Her specialization lies in early intervention, where she focuses on enhancing communication skills, educating parents, and collaborating with schools and other providers to ensure comprehensive support for children.
While completing her master's degree to becoming a BCBA, Melissa gained valuable experience as a behavior technician, providing in-home therapy for nearly two years while accruing the 1500 supervised work hours towards her board certification. Melissa's academic background includes a Master's in Exceptional Student Education with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis from UWF, complemented by a Bachelor's in Elementary Education with a special education focus. Prior to beginning her master's program, Melissa taught both in both general education and special education settings for four years across PreK to 5th grade.
As a BCBA with extensive experience and a deep commitment to supporting families, Melissa offers standard ABA services tailored to meet diverse needs as well as services designed to support families facing unique circumstances. This could include, but is not limited to, providing flexible and personalized treatment to accommodate families currently on clinic waitlists, aiming to develop essential skills and/or maintain progress until a spot becomes available. For military families in the process of a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) or transitioning between providers, Melissa can provide generalization and maintenance services to help avoid skill regression. Additionally, Melissa offers services that cater to families who are seeking ABA therapy but require a more flexible schedule or cannot currently commit to comprehensive programs with a large number of required hours. Melissa's ultimate goal is to deliver high-quality ABA services that meet individual needs, promote skill development, and empower families to achieve meaningful outcomes.
